Healthcare.gov, the online health insurance marketplace, debuted in English and with limitations. One of those limitations was linguistic – in our increasingly ethnically diverse nation, the Marketplace was still English-language only. Now vastly improved, with numerous technical glitches solved, Healthcare.gov is helping hundreds of thousands of Americans find affordable health insurance – in English and now in Spanish.
For many Americans who rely on Spanish, the Marketplace is “the first time Hispanics will have a great opportunity to get insurance with great benefits yet an affordable cost,” said Community Health Choice VP Daisy Morales. In a recent interview, Morales noted that the key thing to remember with regard to healthcare enrollment is that the Hispanic community needs to “understand it, so they can trust it, and so they can use it.”
